Homework: A Brief Look at Switzerland

While some of my homework assignments may seem a bit dense, you never know what country's political system Alec Trebeck might ask about... what is a canton?... who is their president and how long do they serve?... who is the biggest foreign investor in Switzerland?

Why Switzerland? Because I've been there twice and love it. Get to reading.

The American (worth subscribing to their RSS feed) article by John Fund: "Cuckoo for Switzerland"

Now because of me--my blog--you will soon be the proud knower of these invaluable factoids: you're welcome young sirs and madams.

Homework: "Renewing the American Economy"

I hope you enjoy a new addition to my blog: Homework. Most likely these assignments will be of the reading variety (history, politics, baseball, or film). There's no tests or quizzes; what's my objective? Well...to better my Jeopardy skills of course :)

Just finished today's assignment: "Renewing the American Economy" ...

Daily Coop: Uncle, Nietzsche, Rockets

Congratulations to me for becoming a soon-to-be uncle! Yesterday, I found out my sister is going to have a baby boy! I already know what books I want to get him for his first 7 birthdays. I'm a little bummed that I have to wait until he's in high school to pass along Hemingway, but that's alright: Twain, Whitman, Wilder, etc. will suffice for a few years.

Onward and upwards... to the Daily Coop:

Interesting blogpost by Ali eteraz (solid reference to PBS painter Bob Ross): Obama is Nietzschean...

Keep it up Friendfeed...

Hi honey, I got you a great gift for your birthday this year...

Ode to the Elimination of One's Dynastic Deceit

Dear Superdelegates of the Land:
Please end this lady's bid for the White House before she steals America's chance at a new type of government--void of lies and dynastic deceit:

Daily Coop: Conservative Convert, Richardson

One of the better politcal commentary posts I've read in awhile... with Richardson's endorsement this morning, the tides may be turning back. I urge all those Republican's on my side of the family to take the time to read this.

Richardson's endorsement (a nice speech--especially the "whisper" moment: definitely a Veep candidate)...

Daily Coop: Stuff, Yale, Charlie

Stuff. There's too much stuff. A big house: no thanks. No wonder the world is laughing at the shallow hoarders across the pond. A small space, a safe place, hot water, a bookcase--and a coffee maker.

Sometime I like to think about NYC.

Tony Blair to teach at Yale.

Clinton continues to ruin her legacy. Her only way to win is to steal the election--should be an interesting next few months in American politics.

Charlie Rose: over 3,000 archived interviews: tiny but free.
